For a long time Laubardemont was the main hub of activity in the region. Today it is considered to be part of the local heritage and history.
Due to its ideal location, the castle was initially used for industrial purposes. In 1446 the owner, Seigneur De Fronsac ordered the construction of a canal near the castle.
The first known owner of the place is Jean De Tustal, lord of Laubardemont and Jurat of Bordeaux in 1519.
In 1556, Laubardemont fell under the jurisdiction of Antoine De Bourbon, King of Navarre, and the son of Jean De Tustal, Pierre De Tustal became the Kings' vassal. However, it seems that because Pierre De Tustal was a protestant, the castle fell in the grasp of the wars of religion and was later occupied by the royalists.
The history of the property is rich and long with multiple owners and happenings.
In 1850, the castle became an important industrial site, having creatd a mill on the grounds using modern technology. Some years later, a winery is added making it a real factory.
Sadly, in the same year, a first fire ravages the castle, but it recovered quickly and is considered one of the best factories in the region that was fully mechanized. However, in 1923 a second fire destroyed it partially.
Two years after the fire, the property is transformed into a high-quality oil mill until 1957. It is also the biggest employer in the region and a beacon of progress with up to 500 employees.
If you are taking the train from Paris:
If your starting point is Paris, the best way to reach the venue will be by train.
You will have to go on the website https://www.sncf-connect.com/ and book your train ticket there (tickets are available to purchase 4 months in advance).
The journey will be approximately 3 hours.
You can book a train going out of Paris Montparnasse 1&2 with a destination to the station Coutras (in Bordeaux).
The train should make a stop in the station "Bordeaux Saint-Jean" where you will have to change trains, to go from Bordeaux Saint-Jean to the final stop of Coutras.
If you prefer to be more autonomous, you can rent a car from the station in Bordeau Saint-Jean and drive to the chateau. There are multiple providers at the station. If you take this option, then your final train destination should be Bordeau Saint-Jean (not Coutras).
If you are arriving at Bordeaux airport:
We recommend booking a car or use a taxi from the airport to the venue. If you use taxi, please also book your trip back to the airport (if needed).
For the participants attending Saturday only, we have arranged a deal with hotel Henri IV located 5 min drive from the castle.
If you need to book a room, please reach out to them and mention our wedding.
You will get a preferred rate for the night if you book before February 28th.
